Difference Between Sand Washer and Sand Maker

Sand washer, also named as sand washing machine, is widely used in the sand processing industry to separate sands of different diameters and to turn sands into smaller particles. It can deal with both natural sand and manufactured sand. Moreover, sand washer, along with rock crusher or stone crusher, is frequently equipped in such fields as mining companies, chemical corporations and construction sites to get rid of a variety of impurities and to dehydrate the raw materials in a cost-effective and efficient way.

Sand washers can be divided into two categories: multi-functional sand washers and exclusive sand washers. The former can be applied to wash slurry and mud that contain sand while the latter is exclusively designed to deal with sand with impurities. In general, a sand washer consists of the following parts: a chassis, motors, sedimentation tanks, rotary bucket elevators, impellers and gears. The chassis not only guarantees high strength and flexibility of the machine but also withstands possible physical pressures. Rotary bucket elevators consist of welding bent plates and are used as storage areas for the washed sand. When a sand washer is started, gears begin to rotate slowly, driving impellers to churn the incoming sand or some other materials. The rolling process may last for half an hour or even one hour, depending on the requirements of the product. Then the majority of impurities are separated and the vapor layer of sand is dehydrated. After the separation process, sand is transferred by gear-controlled impellers into several sedimentation tanks where waste water is discharged from perforated sheets on the bottom.

Sand maker is also called sand making machine or impact crush. It is used to crush such materials as manufactured sand, granite, limestone, and concrete. Raw materials are poured into the upper part of sand maker into the rotation. Gear-controlled impellers begin to churn at a high speed. At the same time, raw materials are rubbing and grinding each other in a violent way, reducing the diameters of product particles as a result. Then the product is discharged from the lower body of sand maker and is collected in a tank. Advanced sand makers feature large processing capacity, smooth function and high efficiency and consume less energy than old models.

Sand makers can be generally divided into the following three types: horizontal sand makers, vertical sand makers and roller sand makers. Horizontal hammer is an integral part of a horizontal sand maker, ensuring high durability and convenient replacement. This kind of traditional sand maker is reasonably priced and is ideal for small workshops. Vertical sand makers have either open rotor structures or closed ones. The major differences between the two structures lie in whether the hammer hit the materials coming down from the upper part of sand washers. The third type, roller sand maker is basically used in small quarries or construction sites because its processing capacity is much less than the other two types.
