Cone Crusher VS VSI or Vertical Shaft Impactor

Cone crusher is one of the types of crushing machines. Compared with the cone crusher, the VSI-- vertical shaft impactor, as another type of cone crusher, does the same job-- crusher large stones into small pieces. But there are still some differences between them, such as their crushing action, production and suitability. Now, let's talk about the differences between them mainly from those three aspects.

First, let's talk about their crushing action. The spindle of the cone crusher gyrates in an erratic pattern. When the cone crusher is turned on, the spindle pushes rock against a hopper. And then, the rocks will be broken up by the surface force. The rotor of the vertical shaft impactor works at a high speed, and the rocks will be crushed into small pieces by the velocity.

Second, the productions of the two types of crushers are different. The difference between the productions are based on their different roles in crushing rocks. The cone crusher produces irregularly shaped crushed rock and particles while the vertical shaft impactor produces a more evenly crushed rock product.

In the end, let's talk about their different suitabilities. The vertical shaft impactor can crush both hard or soft rocks effectively which makes it more versatile while the cone crushers is more suited for crushing substances categorized as mid-hardness or harder.
